KARACHI:Karachi Citizen’s Council (KCC) has planned to hold a round-table conference here and has invited all major stakeholders including the mainstream political parties and business leaders to sit together and come up with comprehensive, unanimously accepted, and most efficient and delivering legislation for Sindh Local Governments system.
KCC’s senior leader Mehfooz-un-Nabi Khan , in a statement here on Wednesday, described the harmony and understanding among the stakeholders as very important to better serve the province, especially Karachi which is the trade and industrial hub of the country.
With un-conditional offer by the Council to become the host of this very important round-table conference, he had written invitation letters to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Minister for Local Governments, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani and Pakistan Peoples Party’s Provincial General Secretary Waqar Mehdi. Besides, KCCI has invited the Central leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, Jamait-e-Islami, Grand Democratic Alliance and Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan, and leaders of the business community.
The date of the conference would be decided after receiving consent /confirmation from the invited stakeholders, he said.
He has shown his full confidence that all the stakeholders would play their sincere and serious role in this historic legislation by following the footsteps of those great leaders who constituted 1973 unanimous Constitution.
Mehfooz-un-Nabi also suggested that while drafting the new LG Law, the stakeholders would take guidance from the interpretation of section 140-A of the constitution done by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in a petition filed on LG Law.
