KARACHI:Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon Thursday said that the all minorities in the country were enjoying equal rights and they were provided equal opportunities to acquire education and employment, and to enjoy full participation in public life.
He was speaking at a meeting held at his office with the organizing committee of Interfaith Peace Rally led by the Senator Anwar Lal Dean.
Other members of the Organizing Committee of the Peace Rally who attended the meeting included Pastor Suleman Manzoor, Advocate Younus S. Khan, Pervaiz Gill, Pastor Shahbaz Bhatti and Pastor Amjad Farooq.
The delegation briefed the commissioner about the program of Christmas Interfaith Peach Rally which was being organized on behalf of all the churches of the city on December 18.
The commissioner assured the delegation that city administration would provide all possible assistance and facilities for organizing the rally successfully.
He hoped that the rally would promote peace, love and brotherhood in the city.
The commissioner was informed that the rally would be inaugurated by the Cardinal Joseph Coutts at 4pm on December 18 at Gora Qabrastan (Graveyard) then it would go via Sharahe Faisal to Karachi Press Club then to Sea view where it would be terminated . Participants will ride big trucks. Donkey and camel carts etc playing Christmas carols. People would be dressed in Santa Claus suits Muslim, organization would also be invited to participate in the rally demonstrating harmony among faiths.
The Cardinal will offer prayers for the progress, prosperity and solidarity of the country at the inaugural ceremony.
Hundreds of male and female Santas of all ages sizes will participate spreading holiday cheer in their red suits during the ‘Christmas Interfaith Peace Rally’.
