ISLAMABAD:National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) have qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing Mari Petroleum Independence Hockey Cup at the Mari Stadium, Rawalpindi on Thursday.
NBP outplayed Punjab by 6-2 to book a place in the semifinal. For NBP, Shan Irshad scored two goals while Abu Bakar Tariq, Abu Zad Jr., Mohammad Naveed and Mohammad Atiq scored one goal each, respectively. Zain Ijaz and Arsal scored for two goals for Punjab. Shan Irshad of NBP was declared man of the match.
Pakistan Air Force and Sui Southern Gas match ended in a 1-1 draw. Zaheer Hussain scored a goal for Sui Southern Gas in the 4th minute of the game while Muhammad Baqir scored equaled the margin for PAF in the 31st minute. However, due to improved position on the points table, PAF qualified for the semifinals.
