No compromise on quality education: Minister

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Social Welfare Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari on Tuesday said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf government would not compromise on the quality of education. He was speaking at the books festival here at Children’s Library to mark the International Children’s Day. Special Secretary School Education Dr Sohail Shehzad were also present at the festival. Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari said that children should have freedom of thought and speech, adding that “We have focused all our attention towards making robots but no attention is paid to thinking human beings”. He said that interest in reading and the library should be inculcated in children. He suggested setting up a books bank and sending the mobile library to different areas. He said the social welfare department and schools department should work together for establishing a books bank. “Children should be taught cleanliness, ethics and truth-telling”, he added. At the end, children presented tableau at the ceremony. The provincial minister distributed prizes among the children.
