ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Senator Faisal Javed wants
Pakistan team to respond strongly to India and New Zealand by outplaying them in the upcoming 2021
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The T20 WC was scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from October 17 to November 14.
“Our first match of the T20 WC is against India and second versus New Zealand. We have to respond them strongly by playing good in the games and beating them. Pakistani players will enter the field with full passion and enthusiasm in the World Cup and will win against India and New Zealand, ” he said while talking to newsmen here at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi on Thursday.
Faisal said voices were being raised for Pakistan from all over the world that the security situation in the country was excellent. “Pakistan has hosted Bangladesh, South Africa and Sri Lanka and they have expressed full satisfaction over the security situation here. Hopefully many other international teams will also tour here, ” he said.
“The players of the national team have met with the Prime Minister Imran Khan, which has raised their spirits and confidence. The National Twenty20 will send a positive message to the world that cricket is being played in Pakistan with full zeal and passion, ” he said.
He said Pakistan’s case in the International Cricket Council (ICC) has become strong with the cold departure of the New Zealand team. “The cancellation of New Zealand tour to Pakistan is condemned by cricketers and fans all around the world and has made Pakistan’s case even stronger in ICC that there is no security problem here, ” he said.
“Pakistani nation is the most obsessive and passionate nation in the world and because of their passion our grounds are booming with cricket again, ” he said and added that the credit for this goes to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its Chairman Rameez Raja.
“Despite the restrictions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the COVID-19 pandemic, PCB’s efforts for the National T20 are commendable. Fans must come to the stadium to watch their favourite players and support their teams.”
He lauded the National T20 Cup saying the entire squad of T20 World Cup was playing in the tournament and hoped that it would help them a lot for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
