PESHAWAR: The Provincial Development Working Party ( PDWP) on Wednesday approved three interventions under the Agriculture Transformation Plan in a meeting held at Planning and Development Department.
A scheme named ‘Soil Fertility Mapping of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’ approved at a cost of Rs .603.828 million. It would assess fertility status of soil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is aimed at strengthening of 25 number of soil testing labs across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, farmer registration on android application, analysis of 450, 000 soil samples.
The forum also approved ‘Establishment of Seed Industry’ in the province at a cost of Rs 876.36 million. It includes procurement of 15 seed processing units and and construction of 20 new stores across the province.
Tele-farming and digital services would be upgraded and enhanced at a cost of Rs 2.9 billion. The forum has approved the project for Agriculture and Livestock Extension.
The agriculture extension part of the project include establishment of Management Information System & mobile application for agriculture research purposes. Tele-farming network would be scaled up and satellite monitoring system for crop estimation would be upgraded.
The livestock extension component contain
revival of 9211 helpline service, establishment of web portal, mobile application and real time monitoring field staff to ensure transparency.
The Agriculture Transformation Plan would prove to be a revolutionary step towards the development of the agriculture sector.
sustainable development of the agriculture sector, facilitating the farmers and food security are amongst priority areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and all the available resources are being utilized for the purpose.
