ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Saturday named four outfits to represent the country in International Tennis Federation (ITF) competitions as part of the junior development programme.
According to a press release, the trials were held at PTF Complex Islamabad to select the best players for the respective age categories. Players were invited to the trials purely on merit, based on their national and international ranking, as well as performance.
The Junior Davis Cup (Boys 16&U) will be held in Malaysia from April 4-9 wherein Rashid Malik (Captain), M Huzaifa Khan, Bilal Asim and Hamid Israr will be representing Pakistan.
In Junior Billie Jean King Cup (Girls 16&U), slated to be held in Sri Lanka from February 21-26 Sara Mansoor (Captain), Natalia Zaman, Sheeza Sajid and Amna Ali Qayum will represent the country.
In World Junior Tennis (Boys 14&U) that takes place in Sri Lanka from February 14-19, the Pakistan squad will comprise Mahboob Khan(Captain), Ahtesham Humayun, Husnain Ali Rizwan and Hamza Roman.
The World Junior Tennis (Girls 14&U) that is also scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka from February 14-19 the Pakistan outfit will be consisted of Sara Mansoor (Captain), Amna Ali Qayum, Zunaisha Noor and Soha Ali.
The PTF will also hold trials to select the Davis Cup team, which will face Lithuania on the 4th and 5th of March 2022 at the grass courts in Pakistan Sports Board, Islamabad. The trials will be held on the grass courts of Cosmopolitan Club, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Lahore, from 16th February 2022. The top six players as per the latest PTF Men’s Singles ranking will take part in these trials, out of which three players will be selected for the team. Aisam ul Haq and Aqeel Khan have been exempted from the trials. The players invited to participate in the trials are:
Muhammad Shoaib, Muzammil Murtaza, Muhammad Abid, Yusuf Khalil, Mudasir Murtaza and Heera Ashiq.
