PESHAWAR: KP Minister for Local Government, Elections, Rural Development and Parliamentary Affairs, Akbar Ayub Khan Monday urged the PTI workers and former LG representatives to start preparations for the local body elections, which are expected to be announced across the country in the next few months.
He further urged upon the party workers for participation in the Cantonment Boards elections and not to keep the field empty for the political opponents.
He was talking to a delegation of PTI workers from Haripur here . Ex-Member District Council Raja Asad led the delegation and discussed problems and difficulties of the area with the minister.
The minister while assuring redressal of their problems, said that PTI workers could face the voters with great pride as they had focused on provision of basic amenities to the people instead of chanting hollow slogans like the past rulers.
He said that various mega projects including Gravity Water Supply Scheme, Digital City, Medical and Dental Colleges had been launched in Haripur.
Akbar said that the government was also going to set up community centres and ladies parks at the level of every union council in Haripur district so that our talented youth had ample opportunities for refreshment.
He said that 70% work on Ayub Bypass had also been completed and remaining would take next few months to solve the grave traffic problem in the densely populated city.
Similarly, he said, Hattar Road had also been 90% completed that would reduce the distance between Islamabad and Haripur. Beside, provision of good communication facility, the project help put the area on track of progress and development.
The minister urged the party workers to apprise the people about people-friendly and welfare oriented initiatives of the PTI government.
“We have laid a network of developmental projects in all sectors of life in the district and this year going to upgrade over 20 primary and middle schools while Rs 5 billion have been allocated for solarisation of mosques.”
Similarly, he said for the health cover of the poor people, more treatments were being added to the Insaf Health Card after liver diseases. He said that he was well aware of the problems of Haripur and would leave no stone unturned to address them.
