PU, NDU join hands to promote research

LAHORE:Punjab University and National Defence University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to make joint efforts for the promotion of academic activities. The MoU signing ceremony was held at the PU Vice Chancellor’s office here on Wednesday. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad, Rear Admiral Syed Zain Zulfiqar HI (M), Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, deans of various faculties, NDU Registrar Lt Col Muhammad Hafeez (r) Dean Faculty of Contemporary Sciences Dr Lubna Abid Ali, head of International Relations Department Dr Khurram Iqbal and others attended the event. Addressing the ceremony, PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed said that universities being public institutions run by taxpayer’s money must play their role for resolving socio-economic problems of the society. He said that both the universities would launch joint research projects and organize seminars and conferences. The VC said that both the institutions would promote faculty and student exchange programmes. Rear Admiral Syed Zain Zulfiqar said that the universities would benefit from each others’ resources and experience, and share ideas and work on joint research initiatives in various fields of mutual interest. He said that it was his great wish to see the green and splendid campus of Punjab University. Later, PU VC Prof Niaz Ahmed and Rear Admiral Syed Zain Zulfiqar signed MoU and exchanged souvenirs.
