RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) organized the Global Entrepreneurship Week here on Monday at the chamber house.
In his address, Asim Malik, Senior Vice President, RCCI, said the prime objective of observing the Global Entrepreneurship Week was to help students become job creators rather than job seekers.
He said that youth was the future of Pakistan, adding 140 million people below the age of 30; Pakistan had the youngest population in the world and one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia.
“The gap between industry and academia needs to be bridged”, he added.
During Entrepreneurship Week, Asim said students from different universities and colleges had the opportunity to participate in training workshops and seminars so that young people could adopt innovative ideas in starting their own business.
Youth could play their role in the country’s development by using their talents and ideas in the right direction, the vice president said.
He recommended that youth should equip themselves with technical skills, adding, “Information technology, artificial intelligence and e-commerce were emerging sectors, and we need to move forward with a focus, ” he said.
Irfan Wahab, Chief Executive of Telenor, speaking on the occasion, said that information technology was currently the fourth industrial revolution, adding, “Digitization, automation and freelancing are endless opportunities fields”.
He said that “Khushaal Zamindar”, the agriculture service for small scale farmers, provides location-specific weather forecasts along with contextual agronomic advisory for every farmer’s appropriate crop mix and tips for livestock management.
Dr Shumail Dawood emphasized social entrepreneurship and said that we have to work hard to empower ourselves in his address.
