’Safar’ to commence from Thursday

ISLAMABAD: The new Islamic month of Safar-ul-Muzaffar will commence from Thursday (September 9) as the new crescent was not sighted on Tuesday evening, said Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

Following the announcement of Maulana Azad, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony issued a notification. According to the details, the meetings of zonal and district committees were held simultaneously in all four provincial capitals, including Islamabad, for the sighting of Safar-ul-Muzaffar 1443 AH crescent. Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Syed Mohammad Abdul Khabir Azad presided over the meeting of the zonal committee held here at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony while other members attended the meetings at their respective areas. Representatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Meteorological Department and SUPARCO were also present along with other members of the committee.

The weather was overcast in most parts of the country and clear in some places.

However, no evidence has been received from any part of the country regarding the sighting of the moon.
