SBP increases MPC meetings to eight year

KARACHI: In continuation of the efforts to make the process of monetary policy formulation more predictable and transparent in line with international best practices, State Bank of Pakistan has decided to increase the frequency of monetary policy reviews from six to eight times a year.

This action will bring the frequency of meetings in line with that in comparable emerging markets. It will also help to enhance the predictability of monetary policy actions, said SBP statement here on Friday.

Accordingly, the schedule for the next five MPC meetings will be the following:

On Dec 14, 2021; January 24, 2022; March 08, 2022; April 19, 2022 and June 10, 2022.

The advance calendar for the next half-year of MPC meetings will be shared at the time of June 2022 MPC meeting.
