PESHAWAR: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has urged the provincial government to take proactive steps for resolution of issues of Covid-hit industries and announce special incentives to fully revive trade and economic activities.
This was stated by SCCI acting president Imran Khan Mohmand during a meeting with Managing Director of Small Industrial Development Board (SIDB), Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zafar Ali Shah here at the chamber house on Wednesday.
Deputy MD SIDB and secretary general Sajjad Aziz were present during the meeting.
On the occasion, SCCI acting chief apprised the visiting MD SIDB about issues pertaining to small manufacturing units and gave a number of proposals for their amicable resolution.
Imran Khan Mohmand noted that businesses and the industrial sector had adversely affected during covid-19 restrictions, which should be incentivized to revive economic and trade with full strength.
He went on to say that industries are a prime source of employment, so there is dire need of hour to take measures for their development and resolution of related issues.
The SCCI acting chief appreciated the provincial government for establishing new special economic zones in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
However, he emphasized that issues of existing industries should be resolved on priority basis.
The SIDB MD assured the meeting of timely resolving issues of small industries to accelerate the process of industrialization in the province.
