RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi District Police, on the directives of City Police Officer, Rawalpindi Muhammad Ahsan Younas have conducted a sting operation to check FIR registration process at Police Station level.
According to a police spokesman, Rawalpindi district police had taken solid steps to improve service delivery at Police Station level as per vision of Inspector General of Police, Punjab.
He informed that all the Station House Officers had been directed to ensure timely registration of FIRs to provide relief to the citizens.
In order to check response of police officials and registration of FIR process time, a sting operation on the directives of CPO was conducted and bogus applicants were sent to Race Course and Airport Police Stations.
When the fictitious plaintiffs presented applications for registration of FIRs of snatching cases, case no. 1349 for snatching Rs 50, 000, a motorcycle and mobile at gunpoint at airport police station was registered under 395 PPC.
While case no. 782 under 392 PPC was registered for snatching mobile phone and cash Rs 8500 at gunpoint in Police Station Race Course. Both the police stations immediately registered FIRs. CPO appreciated SHOs of both the police stations and gave commendation certificates and cash awards.
The spokesman said that Rawalpindi district police were following the policy of timely registration of FIRs as per vision of the IGP Punjab.
He informed that the percentage of registration of FIRs through 15 calls had increased considerably and during 2020-21 it reached at 62 percent which was earlier 13 percent.
The CPO said that Rawalpindi District Police were utilizing all available resources to improve service delivery which is top priority of the department.
The CPO said that timely registration of FIR is first step towards dispensation of speedy justice.
