HYDERABAD:The Institute of Sindhology University of Sindh Jamshoro has established an online bookshop to sell valuable books to the bookworms who could place orders through the institute’s facebook page or WhatsApp number.
The book lovers from every nook and corner of the country will be able to purchase the literary material besides informative books published by the Institute
of Sindhology from time to time through easy online shopping.
The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof. Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro on Tuesday inaugurated the online bookshop. The Director Institute of Sindhology Ghulam Murtaza Siyal, Dr. Waheed Jatoi, Zonal Head the Courier Service Sajjad Maqbool and other officials were also present on the occasion.
During visit of the bookshop and book warehouse, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that efforts should be made to sell the books of the Institute to libraries and knowledgeable people so that those having literary taste could benefit from the books.
He said the selected informative books should be published solely on merit in future, adding that the stock of enlightening tomes available in Sindhology ought to be sold to the people for their benefit and literary flavor.
In his briefing on, the Director Institute of Sindhology said the purchase of books from online shops had been made very easy and unproblematic. The readers could place the orders for the books of their choice by filling out an online form through the institute’s Facebook page or WhatsApp number, he said and added, however, payment would be made upon receipt of the book through courier service.
He said a book stall by the Institute of Sindhology was set up at the funfair organized at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology and another stall was recently set up at the Sindhi Adabi Board during its three-day book fair where people showed interest in the books published by the institute.
He informed that after the online bookshop, an online gift shop would also be launched to sell showpieces pertaining to the Sindhi culture and the magnum opus would be delivered to the aspirants through the same courier service.
He said the Institute of Sindhology had a collection of valuable books which would be sold and distributed to the individuals with fondness of reading.
He informed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed with the a courier service, under which it would deliver books at cheap rates.
