Traders seek LCCI help to get their issues resolved

Lahore

LAHORE: The traders of Lahore Tuesday sought help of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) to get their major issues resolved.

A delegation of All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran, led by its chairman Waqar Ahmad Mian, claimed in their meeting with LCCI President Mian Tariq Misbah, Senior Vice President Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan and Vice President Tahir Manzoor Chaudhry that traders were doing business in unfavourable conditions and the situation is going out of control day by day.

President Anjuman-e-Tajran Malik Amanat Ali, General Secretary Malik Kalim Ahmad, former LCCI senior vice president Khwaja Khawar Rashid, former vice president Zeeshan Khalil, Executive Committee (EC) members — Imran Bashir and Maqbool Siddiqui — and market leaders including Nasir Ansari, Haris Attique, Babar Ali Khan, Malik Hafeez, also spoke on the occasion.

The delegation members said that lack of infrastructure, law and order situation, traffic mess and bad sewerage system had been creating hurdles in their businesses. They said that a number of fire incidents had taken place in the city markets due to faulty transmission system, but Lesco officials had not taken corrective measures.

They said that some sites for parking plazas were available at different markets. The government should immediately start work on building the parking plazas.

The LCCI president said the government should resolve the issues of traders at the earliest. He said that no lockdown on Eid should be imposed on traders as they had already suffered huge financial losses and could not afford another lockdown. He urged the departments concerned to resolve the issues of traffic, poor sewerage system, unavailability of parking and streetlights.

The president said the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) was going to launch a finance scheme for small traders.

The LCCI office-bearers informed the delegation that a vaccination centre had been established on the LCCI premises and urged traders to get themselves vaccinated.

Nasir Hameed Khan said that the government had withdrawn the powers of FBR under Section 203 (A), which was a big achievement.
