KARACHI:The Karachi traffic police on Monday issued a traffic plan for the 8th, 9th and 10th Muharram-ul-Haram.
A traffic police spokesman said that on the directives of the DIGP Traffic, the traffic police had made arrangements for the three Muharram days falling on August 17th, August18th and August19 this year.
As per the plan, on 8th of Muharram, a procession would start from Nishter Park and end at Hussainian Iranian Imam Bargah in Kharadar.
The procession would start at Nishtar Park and then take the route of Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Mehfil-e-Shah-e-Khurasan, MA Jinnah Road, Mainsfield Street, Preedy Street, Tibet Chowk, MA Jinnah Road, Baba-e-Urdu Road, Chand Bibi Chowk, Nishtar Road, Nigar Cinema, Altaf Hussain Road, Denso Hall, again M.A.Jinnah Road, Kharadar Police Station, Bombay Bazar to Hussainian Iranian Imam Bargah.
On 9th of Muharram, 20th September, at 9am, an Alam procession would be taken out from Liaquatabad.
This procession would first go to Martin Road Imambargah and thereafter it would come to Nishtar Park, where a Majlis would be held. At about 1200 hours, the procession would be taken out from Nishtar Park for Hussainian Iranian Imam Bargah, Kharadar, via the following routes.
The procession would begin at Nishtar Park, Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Mehfil-e-Shah-e-Khurasan, MA Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, Preedy Street, Tibet Chowk, MA Jinnah Road, Boulton Market, Bombay Bazaar, Kharadar, Nawaz Mahabat Khanjee Road and then to Hussainian Iranian Imam Bargah.
On 10th of Muharram, a procession would start at Nishtar Park and proceed to Hussainian Iranian Imam Bargah. The procession would pass through Nishtar Road, Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, Mehfil-e-Shah-e-Khurasan, M.A. Jinnah, Mansfield Street, Preedy Street, Tibet Chowk, M.A. Jinnah Road, Boulton Market, Bombay Bazaar, Kharadar, Nawaz Mahabat Khanjee Road and then to Hussainian Iranian Imam Bargah.
As soon as the procession would start from Nishtar Park, all vehicular traffic coming from the city side would be diverted towards Soldier Bazaar Road, Coast Guard, Ankle Seria Chowk to Jubilee or Nishtar Road. All kinds of traffic coming from Nazimabad side would be diverted from Lasbella towards Nishtar Road towards Zoological Garden to reach their destinations.
All kinds of traffic coming from the Liaquatabad side would be diverted onto Martin Road towards the Central Jail Karachi. These vehicles would, however, be permitted to proceed to Central Jail and then proceed via Jamshed Road, Dada Bhoy Noorji Road, Kashmir Road, Shahra-e-Quaideen, Sharah-e-Faisal, to reach their destinations.
All kinds of traffic coming from the Stadium Road side would proceed via New MA Jinnah Road. These vehicles would be diverted towards Dada Bhoy Noorji Road towards Kashmir Road, Society Light Signal, Shahra-e-Quaideen to Shahra-e-Faisal.
All kinds of traffic coming from the Super Highway would be diverted from Liaquatabad No. 10 towards Chowrangi No.2 Nazimabad and would proceed via Habib Bank Flyover, Estate Avenue Road, Sher Shah to Maripur Road. For the return journey, these vehicles would adopt the same route.
All kinds of traffic from the National Highway would proceed via Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Hassan Square, Liaquatabad No.10, Nazimabad No.2, Habib Bank Flyover, Estate Avenue Road, Sher Shah and Mauripur Road. For return journey, these vehicles would also adopt the same route.
All kinds of traffic would not be permitted to proceed towards the route of the procession from Guru Mandir. These vehicles would be diverted onto Bahadur Yar Jang Road.
All kinds of traffic coming towards the Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum via MA Jinnah Road will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road. No vehicular traffic would be permitted to proceed towards Purani Numaish under any circumstances.
All kinds of vehicular traffic approaching from Shahrah-e-Quaideen (except those arriving for participating in the procession having stickers pasted on their windscreens issued from the DIGP Traffic office) would not be allowed to proceed towards Numaish and others would be diverted from Society Signal.
The vehicular traffic of M.A. Jinnah Road would not be allowed from Preedy Street, Aga Khan-III Road & Mansfield Street to proceed towards Saddar
All kinds of traffic going towards Saddar and other colonies would not be permitted to proceed towards Empress Market from the junction of Preedy Street/MA Jinnah Road, (2) Court Road Chowk and (4) Fresko Chowk when the head of the procession reached near the crossing of MA Jinnah Road/Mansfield Street.
No traffic would be allowed from M.A. Jinnah Road, Preedy Junction until procession cross this intersection.
Traffic coming from Zoological Garden , Aga Khan-III Road would be allowed till Ankle Seria Hospital.
