LAHORE:World Bank (WB) Senior Private Sector Specialist Ms Adja Mansora Dahourou along with Tahir Akbar, WB Senior Urban Development Specialist and Rafay Khan, WB Economist visited the Cluster Development Initiative (CDI) here on Friday.
The CDI Project Director Tayyaba Kamal and CDI Cluster Managers welcomed the delegation and briefed them about the approach and methodology of the programme.
A detailed presentation was given to the delegation regarding the conception, objectives and cluster projects of CDI, stated a press release.
Project Director said that CDI was executed by Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC), under the broader programme of World Bank’s J&C to support initiatives that helps SMEs become more competitive and productive.
The WB team also visited the design centres for the footwear and readymade garments clusters i.e Pakistan Shoe Design Hub (PSDH) and Apparel Design & Research Center (ADRC). These centers have been established under the CDI project in collaboration with PFMA (Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association) and PRGMEA (Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association) for providing indigenous and affordable design & market services.
The mission lauded the Cluster Development Initiative (CDI) for strengthening the export oriented industrial sectors of Punjab. They also thanked the CDI team for a constructive and insightful discussion.
