Faisalabad: A state-of-the-art 100-bed trauma center at Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Dijkot has been completed and handed over to the District Health Authority (DHA), marking a major step towards strengthening emergency and specialized healthcare services for residents of Dijkot and surrounding areas.
A spokesman for Health Department said that the development has been undertaken under Punjab government’s health sector initiatives while a request for approval of 191 posts under the Schedule of New Expenditure (SNE) has been forwarded to the Secretary Health and Population Department Lahore for effective operationalization of the trauma center.
Chief Executive Officer DHA Dr Shahzad Mahmood visited the newly completed trauma center and inspected different sections of the building.
He reviewed the available facilities and infrastructure in preparation for the launch of healthcare services.
Dr Shahzad Mahmood said that completion of the trauma center would significantly enhance capacity of THQ Hospital Dijkot to provide modern medical and emergency treatment facilities to the patients.
He said that request for 191 SNE posts had been sent to the Health and Population Department to ensure availability of the required human resources and enable the trauma center to become fully functional.
He said that patients from Dijkot and adjoining rural areas would soon have access to modern, quality healthcare facilities closer to their homes, reducing the need to travel to larger urban centers for emergency and trauma-related treatment.
He attributed the completion of trauma center building to the special efforts of Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Nauman Siddiq, saying that their support had helped accelerate the project towards completion.
He expressed hope that following approval and deployment of the required staff, the trauma center would soon start providing modern and quality treatment services to the patients.
The completion of the dedicated trauma facility is expected to strengthen emergency healthcare infrastructure in the area and provide a more organized facility for handling trauma and other critical cases, he added.
