Lahore: The Lahore district administration took action against 1,019 profiteers during 3,149 inspections of chicken sale points across the city over the last 24 hours,with 124 violators fined Rs.250,000 and three cases registered.
On the directions of Deputy Commissioner(DC) Lahore,Muhammad Ali Ejaz,special inspection teams conducted checks in Harbanspura,Ichhra,Nishtar,Iqbal Town, Model Town and other areas to ensure compliance with notified prices and prevent overcharging and short weighing of chicken.
The spokesperson said the notified price of chicken was Rs.439 per kilogram and shopkeepers were required to prominently display the official rate list.
The inspection teams also took 148 actions against shops for failure to display the rate list.
The DC directed officials to ensure effective price control and take indiscriminate action against profiteers.
He also ordered strict compliance with the requirement to prominently display notified price lists.
‘Unjustified increase in the prices of essential commodities will not be tolerated,’ the DC said,adding that ensuring the provision of essential commodities to citizens at notified rates was the administration’s top priority.
