LAHORE: Punjab Mineral Company Board of Governors Chairman Samar Mubarakmand on Thursday inaugurated first three-day Punjab Mining Expo here at Expo center.
Mines and Minerals Department Punjab Secretary Muhammad Ali Ammer, Additional Secretary Sarah Rashid, Investors and individuals from Sindh, Balochistan, KP, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir affiliated to the fields of mining and minerals attended the expo.
The departments of all provinces have set up stalls of minerals discovered in their respective provinces.
Jewelry made of ornaments and precious stones is also being offered for the interest of women.
Homemade decorative items made from salt are also on display at the expo.
A ‘Mining Conference’ was also organized on the first day of the expo in which investors were provided information about the minerals found in Pakistan especially in Punjab.
The conference also encouraged local and foreign investors in the mining sector.
The secretaries from all the provinces also gave presentations based on the minerals found in their provinces.
Later, memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed between the Secretary of Punjab Mines & Minerals Department and other Provincial Minerals Departments to work on a partnership basis on mineral exploration and mineral development issues.
It may be recalled that Punjab Mining Expo is the first Mining Expo in the history of the country which would be continued till May 21.
