Faisalabad: City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain called for stronger cooperation between the business community and police to further curb crime, assuring traders that their concerns would be addressed on priority basis.

He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of traders at the Police Lines Complex. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Nasir Javed, SP Lyallpur Town Abid Zafar, ASP Gulberg, other police officers and representatives of the trader community were also present on the occasion.

During meeting, the CPO briefed the participants about ongoing anti-crime operations and overall law and order situation in the district. He said that Faisalabad police were working round the clock to eliminate criminal activities through intelligence-based operations and targeted crackdowns against habitual offenders and other anti-social elements.

He assured the trader community that the issues affecting businesses and commercial activities would receive prompt attention. The police would continue to enhance security measures at markets and business centers, he added.

He urged traders to ensure installation and proper functioning of surveillance cameras at shops, markets and other key commercial locations. Effective CCTV coverage could significantly strengthen crime prevention and assist police in investigations, he added.

He said that Faisalabad police were utilizing all available resources to safeguard lives and property of the citizens and business community. However, public cooperation was imperative for maintaining peaceful and secure environment, he added.

The traders appreciated the police’s sustained crackdown against criminal elements and expressed satisfaction over the noticeable decline in crime in the city. They assured the CPO of their full cooperation in supporting police efforts to maintain law and order.

Peshawar: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar (BISEP) has announced the schedule for the practical examinations of Intermediate Annual Examination-I 2026 for candidates who were unable to appear earlier and had submitted applications for re-examination.

According to a notification issued by the board, the practical examinations will be held on July 15, at designated examination centers, including Islamia College Peshawar, Government Degree College for Boys Charsadda, Government Degree College Jamrud, and Government Degree College Mohmand.

The board also announced a change in the examination center for female candidates who were previously assigned to Ummat Wahida Public High School and College, Hassan Khel, Peshawar. It said that owing to administrative reasons, their practical examination center has been shifted to Government Degree College for Boys, Sama, Budh Bher, Peshawar.

The practical examinations for these female candidates will be conducted from July 15 to July 18 at the new examination center. BISEP has directed all candidates to bring their roll number slips and other required documents to the examination centers and ensure strict compliance with the board’s instructions.

Attock: Deputy Commissioner Attock Dr. Mudassar Ahmed Shah on Monday conducted an extensive inspection of ongoing development projects across the city and directed officials to expedite work while ensuring quality standards. He also reviewed traffic management, parking facilities and other civic issues during the visit.

Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) and Administrator Municipal Committee Aniel Saeed, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Hafiz Zeeshan Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner Attock Arif Qureshi, Chief Officer Municipal Committee Sardar Aftab Ahmed Khan and other officials, the deputy commissioner received detailed briefings on the progress and timely execution of various development schemes. He instructed the relevant departments to complete all projects within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on quality.

Dr. Shah also inspected traffic flow, parking arrangements, pushcart vendors and rickshaw stands, directing the authorities to remove illegal encroachments and curb haphazard parking that disrupts public movement. He ordered the formulation of practical arrangements for pushcart vendors and rickshaw drivers to facilitate smooth traffic while safeguarding public convenience.

Addressing officials during the visit, the deputy commissioner said the district administration remained committed to providing residents with a clean, organized and well-managed urban environment. He called for stronger coordination among government departments, continuous monitoring of development projects and prompt action to improve sanitation, city beautification, traffic management and the delivery of quality civic services.

Bahawalpur: Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia has directed the concerned authorities to ensure the effective, transparent, and timely prosecution of criminal cases so that offenders are brought to justice in accordance with the law.

The commissioner expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the District Public Prosecutors of Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan at the Commissioner Office.

The meeting reviewed Prosecution Review Cases (PRCs), the progress of important pending cases, challenges faced by the prosecution, and measures to strengthen the effective conduct of criminal prosecutions. Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia emphasized that the timely presentation of strong and credible evidence before the courts is the foundation of successful prosecution.

He directed all relevant departments to perform their responsibilities with professionalism, integrity, and a strong sense of accountability.

The Commissioner stressed that all cases must be handled strictly on merit, with transparency and in accordance with the law.

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner (Coordination) Dr Nayyar Mustafa, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Malik Khawar Hayat, District Public Prosecutor Bahawalpur Nadeem Iqbal Khokhawani, and officers of the relevant departments. Deputy Commissioner Bahawalnagar Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhoun and Deputy Commissioner Rahim Yar Khan Zaheer Anwar Jappa participated in the meeting via video link.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants conducted a detailed review of the progress of important cases, discussed the future course of action, and issued necessary directions to further improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the prosecution system across the division.

Layyah: A 40-year-old woman is feared to have drowned in the River Lala Creek near Pul Mai Jeevan, Jaman Shah area of Layyah district, Rescue 1122 said on Monday. According to Rescue 1122, the missing woman was identified as Hajra Bibi, wife of Riaz Hussain, aged 40.

Family members informed rescuers that the woman had been missing since around 4:00 a.m. They suspected she had fallen into the river after her shoes were found on the riverbank.

Upon receiving the emergency call, a Rescue 1122 ambulance was dispatched to the scene, while the Water Rescue Team, equipped with boats and necessary rescue equipment, rushed to the site to launch a search operation.

Rescue officials said a seven-member Water Rescue Team is conducting an extensive search to locate the missing woman.

They added that the river is approximately 20 feet deep at the location, with a strong water current, making the rescue operation challenging. The search operation was continuing till the filing of this report.

Nowshera virkan: Assistant Commissioner and Health Council Chairperson, Saadia Jamal on Monday chaired a Health Council (HC) meeting to review healthcare services and discussed measures to improve medical facilities in the tehsil.

The meeting was organized under directives issued by Deputy Commissioner, Gujranwala, Naveed Ahmed to strengthen the performance of public institutions across the district.

Medical Superintendent, Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Nowshera Virkan, Dr. Maqsood Zafar Maan, and other health officials attended the meeting, the official sources said.

The meeting reviewed the performance of healthcare institutions and discussed steps to enhance the quality of medical services, with an emphasis on improving patient care and ensuring efficient delivery of treatment.

Saadia Jamal directed health officials to maintain high institutional standards and adopt effective measures aimed at providing better healthcare services to the public.
