Islamabad: At least 22 passengers were injured when a coaster travelling from Madyan to Peshawar met with an accident near Chakdara on the Swat Expressway on Wednesday.

According to an NHMP spokesperson, Motorway Police officials reached the scene immediately after the accident and launched rescue operations, providing first aid and medical assistance to the injured.

The spokesperson said several of the injured were shifted to Batkhela Hospital and Mardan Medical Complex for further treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the accident occurred due to brake failure of the coaster, which was travelling from Madyan to Peshawar.

Islamabad: The Supreme Court is working to integrate its case scheduling system with artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure that cases are fixed automatically in accordance with the approved case allocation policy, eliminating human intervention in the process.

Briefing the media on the Supreme Court’s services, digital reforms and complaint redressal mechanism, Supreme Court Registrar Sohail Laghari and Secretary to the Chief Justice Mushtaq Ahmed said the initiative was aimed at making the case scheduling process more transparent, efficient and policy-driven.

Mushtaq Ahmed said the Supreme Court was currently providing 35 services, most of which had already been made available online. Work was also underway to digitize another 12 services to further facilitate litigants.

He said the Supreme Court’s complaint cell had so far received 50,830 complaints, of which only two were directly related to Supreme Court officials. He added that the Court now acted only on relevant complaints, noting that disciplinary action had been taken against a Supreme Court official following a corruption complaint.

He said overseas Pakistanis had responded positively to the Supreme Court’s complaint cell. The Overseas Complaint Cell had received 1,063 complaints, including 22 related to the Supreme Court, of which 14 had already been resolved.

Registrar Sohail Laghari said that following the recent judgment of the Federal Constitutional Court regarding National Accountability Bureau (NAB) matters, the Supreme Court had initiated the categorization of pending cases.

He said around 300 NAB-related cases were currently pending before the Supreme Court and were being processed further in light of the constitutional court’s judgment.

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi Wednesday paid rich tribute to security forces for carrying out successful intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, resulting in the elimination of 32 terrorists.

In a statement, the minister praised the security forces for their professionalism, bravery and timely action, saying the successful operations reflected their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country’s peace and security.

He said the country’s defenders had once again proved that the fate of Pakistan’s enemies was nothing but defeat.

The minister said that every successful operation against terrorism strengthened the nation’s confidence and demonstrated the high morale and operational readiness of the security forces.

Hanif Abbasi said that anti-state elements attempting to undermine Pakistan’s peace would face a decisive response on every front. He reaffirmed that the entire nation stood shoulder to shoulder with its armed forces in the fight against terrorism.

The minister said the country’s brave personnel continued to make sacrifices day and night to ensure lasting peace, adding that the nation saluted their courage, dedication and unwavering resolve.

He said that the decisive operations against terrorists reflected Pakistan’s firm determination that there was no place for enemies of peace in the country.

Expressing confidence, the minister said that with the grace of Allah, the courage of the security forces and the unity of the nation, terrorism would be eradicated completely from Pakistan.

Islamabad: The President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Sardar Tahir Mehmood, hosted a farewell reception in honour of Axelsyah R.
