District

FAISALABAD:The Civil Defense Department has sealed three illegal fireworks manufacturing and trading sites in Faisalabad after an enforcement operation exposed hazardous activities being carried out without valid licenses in residential areas, posing a serious threat to human lives and property.

A spokesman for local administration said that the operation was conducted on the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Nauman Siddique under the supervision of Civil Defense Officer Javed Akhtar Khichi at Mai Mastani Road, Chak No.229-RB and Makkoana in Faisalabad.

During operation, the enforcement team found individuals allegedly involved in the unauthorized sale of fireworks and the preparation of inflammable materials at three locations without the requisite legal licenses.

Chief Instructor Civil Defense Muhammad Altaf along with the department’s enforcement team took action against the violators, sealed all three premises and destroyed the recovered inflammable material on the spot to eliminate the immediate safety risks.

A case was registered against one of the owners at Saddar Police Station under Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, for the alleged violations.

The spokesman said that illegal preparation of inflammable materials in residential localities could trigger a major accident at any time, resulting in loss of life and substantial damage to property.

He reiterated the importance of complying with legal requirements governing fireworks-related activities and warned that unauthorized manufacturing and trading of hazardous materials would not be tolerated particularly in populated areas where public safety could be seriously compromised.
