Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department has decided to link 331 government schools across the province with the Global Virtual School (GVS) to address the shortage of teachers in key subjects.
The decision was taken on the direction of Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Arshad Ayub Khan, following which the department issued instructions to register the selected schools with the online education platform.
Under the initiative, students will receive online lessons in Science, Mathematics, English and Information Technology (IT) or Computer Science from qualified and experienced teachers through GVS.
The programme aims to ensure continuity of education in schools facing a shortage of subject specialists and improve students’ access to quality teaching.
The department said the initiative would particularly benefit students in remote and underserved areas by providing modern educational facilities and helping government schools meet contemporary learning requirements.
The move is part of the provincial government’s efforts to improve access to education and address staffing gaps in public-sector schools.
