BAHAWALPUR:A total of 381 green tractors have been distributed among successful farmers in the Bahawalpur region under the Green Tractors Scheme Phase-IV,with the Punjab government providing a subsidy of Rs750,000 on each tractor,here on Sunday.
This was stated during a ceremony organized by the Agriculture (Extension) Department to distribute tractors among successful applicants under the scheme.
Member of the National Assembly,Malik Muneer Iqbal Channar distributed the tractor keys among the successful farmers at the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering,the MNA said Punjab Chief Minister(CM),Maryam Nawaz Sharif was making concerted efforts for the development and economic prosperity of the farming community.
He said the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) government had always accorded priority to the welfare of farmers,adding that initiatives such as the Green Tractors Scheme Phase-IV and the Kissan Card were providing substantial relief to the farming community.
He further said these initiatives would help small-scale farmers improve their agricultural productivity and achieve economic self-reliance.
