39 more dengue cases surface in RWP

RAWALPINDI:As many as 39 more dengue cases were reported in Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours, raising the tally of confirmed cases to 1,143 in the district.

District Coordinator Epidemics Prevention and Control (DCEPC), Dr Sajjad Mehmood on Thursday said that, among the new cases, 24 cases had arrived from Potohar town urban, 10 from Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi, two of each from Chaklala and Rawalpindi Cantonments and one from outside the district.

He said 120 patients were admitted to district hospitals of which 99 were confirmed cases while 1,044 were discharged after treatment.

He informed that the district administration had registered 53 FIRs, issued tickets to 10, sealed five premises, and a fine of Rs 10,000 was imposed against the violations of dengue SOPs during the last 24 hours.

During indoor surveillance, in the last 24 hours, the teams checked 18,897 houses, and larvae were found in 1,238 homes. Similarly, he added that while checking 7,091 places, the teams found larvae at 236 sites during outdoor surveillance.
