396 cases registered over illegal gas decanting

FAISALABAD: The Civil Defence Department, during action against illegal decanting of gas in the district, registered 396 cases against shopkeepers running the businesses illegally during the last one year.

According to Civil Defence Officer Rana Muhammad Abbas here Wednesday, the teams sealed 667 LPG shops and forwarded 608 challans to the courts. The courts imposed a Rs 7 million fine on retailers.

The teams permanently closed down the shutters of 32 LPG shops set up near tandoors, Mosques, barber shops and residential areas.

He said that civil defense teams also took action against loose petrol sellers and closed down 312 petrol dispensers/digital units and 198 patrol stations. The machinery was seized and challan of 171 shopkeepers issued from February 2023 to onward.
