PESHAWAR:The district administration, on the orders of Peshawar High Court (PHC), carried out a grand operation against commercial activities in the University Town on Sunday and sealed 56 concerns, including private clinics, offices of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), schools, hostels and banks.
On PHC’s orders and the directives of Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud and Deputy Commissioner Shafiullah Khan, the Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC) Syeda Zainab Naqvi carried out operation in the University Town and sealed 20 private clinics, 10 NGOs, 15 private schools, 10 girls and boys hostels, and a branch of a commercial bank.
Besides a heavy contingent of police, the authorities of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), and Water Supply & Sanitation Programme (WSSP) also accompanied the team of the district administration during the operation against commercial activities in the residential University Town. The electricity, gas and water connections of these commercial concerns were also disconnected.
Speaking on the occasion, AAC Zainab Naqvi said that the PHC had banned commercial activities in residential areas and, “I vow to implement the court orders in letter and spirit.”
