Lahore: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran has directly heard the grievances of 63,734 citizens through open courts during his tenure, providing immediate relief and ensuring resolution of public complaints on merit.
According to a police spokesperson, 767 open courts were held at the office of the DIG Operations during his tenure, where citizens were provided direct access to senior police officers and their complaints were addressed.
Free legal guidance was provided to 298 poor and deserving citizens, while 32 visitors were also provided financial assistance, the spokesperson said.
The open courts continued on Fridays at mosques as part of efforts to bring the public grievance redress mechanism closer to citizens, he added.
According to feedback, 82 percent of citizens expressed satisfaction with the open courts, reflecting their role in providing direct access to police authorities.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said action without discrimination or influence had promoted merit-based policing, while prompt redress of complaints helped identify crimes at an early stage and ensure their effective control.
He said direct hearing of citizens’ grievances had enabled the police to provide immediate relief, adding that a zero-tolerance policy against violations of law and misuse of authority was being pursued.
He said open courts had become an important means of strengthening public confidence and promoting effective policing.
