Peshawar: A two-day workshop on the Monitoring Framework of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Investment and Institutional Support Project (KP-RIISP) concluded here on Sunday.
It brought together key stakeholders to enhance understanding of project indicators, measurement methods, and real-time monitoring systems to ensure transparent and results-based implementation in the newly merged districts.
The workshop was organized by MandE Consultants – CSRD and focused on enhancing result-based monitoring, transparency, and accountability.
KP-RIISP is being implemented by the Government of KP with the support of the World Bank, with the objective of improving service delivery, institutional capacity, and climate resilience in the newly merged districts.
Participants included project directors and technical staff from Project Implementation Units (PIUs), the Project Coordination and Management Unit (PCMU), the Planning and Development Department (PandDD), design and supervision consultants, and monitoring and evaluation teams.
The workshop aimed to develop a shared and coordinated understanding of the KP-RIISP monitoring framework across all implementing agencies.
At the opening session, Team Leader Dr. Muhammad Zulfiqar welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of a robust monitoring system to ensure transparency, accountability, and results-based implementation.
He stressed the need for real-time progress reporting, standardized understanding of indicators, clear data responsibility, verification mechanisms, and inter-agency coordination.
PCMU MandE Specialist Salman Khan provided a detailed briefing on monitoring and evaluation arrangements at the PCMU level.
He discussed the project results framework, real-time progress reporting mechanisms, and the integration of monitoring tools with digital platforms.
He emphasized the importance of timely and continuous data sharing from PIUs to support evidence-based decision-making and effective project management.
Technical sessions were conducted by Nazir Malik, Nudrat, Muhammad Shehab, and Asif Marwat.
They delivered comprehensive presentations on indicator definitions, measurement methods, verification sources, and departmental responsibilities for data collection and reporting.
Interactive discussions addressed practical challenges related to monitoring and reporting indicators.
Project Directors from PIUs of the Agriculture Department, Communication and Works (CandW), Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Irrigation, and Local Government departments shared updates on progress, future planning, reporting formats, beneficiary coverage, and implementation challenges under KP-RIISP.
These discussions highlighted the importance of sector-specific monitoring requirements and strong inter-departmental coordination.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening harmonized monitoring practices, improving data quality, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting in line with KP-RIISP objectives.
They appreciated the consultative approach of the workshop and pledged full cooperation for the effective implementation of the project’s monitoring framework.
