RAWALPINDI:On the special directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Rawalpindi Police has initiated a special crackdown against notorious drug dealers.
According to City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, the crackdown against drug dealers will be continued relentlessly, and citizens are encouraged to stand with Rawalpindi Police in this battle against narcotics.
During the crackdown, over the passage of one month, Rawalpindi police have apprehended approximately 700 notorious drug dealers.
Substantial quantities of narcotics have been recovered, estimated to be worth millions of rupees from their possession.
He further said the drug dealers’ networks and supply chains have been disrupted.
For the first time, steps have been taken towards the treatment and rehabilitation of regular drug users.
Over 300 such individuals have been sent to hospitals for treatment, and private rehabilitation centers are also being approached for cooperation.
This initiative aims to help regular drug users to again rehabilitate into society.
The citizens have been urged to cooperate in eradicating drug dens and have actively contributed by providing information leading to the apprehension of drug dealers and the seizure of narcotics.
To raise awareness among citizens, walks and seminars against drugs have been organized in various areas, he maintained.
