94pc development work in Sector C-14 completed, NA told

Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told the National Assembly on Friday that around 94 per cent of development work in Sector C-14 had been completed, while possession of plots in Sector E-12 had been handed over to allottees.

Responding to questions during the question hour, he said development work in C-14 was nearing completion and the process of handing over plots was also almost complete.

He described the progress in Sector E-12 as a major achievement, saying allottees had waited for decades to take possession of their plots despite receiving allotment letters.

He said development work in E-12 was progressing rapidly and allottees had now received possession of their plots.

Responding to another question about development and regulation in Islamabad, the minister said the Capital Development Authority (CDA) was responsible for planning and development in the city’s designated sectors, including industrial areas.

He explained that development in rural areas outside the sectoral limits, particularly in zones where private housing schemes were allowed, fell under the relevant regulatory framework of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration and other concerned authorities.

He said the ICT administration regulated development activities within its jurisdiction.

Replying to a supplementary question about Islamabad’s development system, Dr Tariq Fazal said established plans, rules and building bylaws governed development in regular sectors. These were implemented after the required approvals, he added.

He said the framework had been amended over time to meet the city’s changing needs and population growth.

The minister said the government was making efforts to preserve Islamabad’s master plan and green character while meeting its development needs.
