DG KHAN: Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) South Punjab, Saqib Zafar, directed the administration to launch a crackdown against the mafia involved in the smuggling of Iranian oil and other commodities saying that it was draining the economy of the country and strict measures are required to stop it.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting at the commissioner’s office here on Tuesday. All the Administrative Secretaries of South Punjab participated in the meeting.
He also asked the officials concerned to cooperate with MEPCO authorities to make the ongoing campaign to control power pilfering successful.
ACS urged the officers to perform their duties honestly to improve good governance and service delivery and to make public service their motto adding that municipal services be improved, the campaign for cleanliness in the city be launched, the campaign ” Gaon Chamkain Ge” be made a success and while the price control magistrates be mobilized to ensure the availability of essential commodities at fixed rates.
Zafar said lack of interest and negligence on the part of the officer will not be tolerated. Commissioner DG Khan Dr Nasir Mehmood and Deputy Commissioner Mahar Shahid Zaman Luk briefed the meeting.
Earlier, he visited the Cardiology Institute and DG Khan Teaching Hospital and administered polio drops to the children.
He also reviewed the work of the under-construction Mother and Child Hospital. He inquired about the health of patients in the Cardiology Institute and Teaching Hospital and asked about the treatment facilities provided by hospitals.
He also reviewed the machinery purchased for the Cardiology Hospital.
