ISLAMABAD:A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held between Allama Iqbal Open University and Provost Training School, (PAF) regarding allotment of quota for admissions of Post Graduate Diploma Program in Criminology for PAF officers yesterday.
The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Dr. Nasir Mehmood, Dean Faculty of Education while Air Commodore, Maqsood Akhtar represented the Provost Training School team, a press release on Thursday said.
According to the agreement, Allama Iqbal Open University will allocate a special quota for Post Graduate Diploma (Criminology) admissions for the students of Provost Training School and also review the criminology courses along with the school management, teachers, officers and experts.
The Provost Training School will enroll officers as per the dedicated slots in PGD Criminology for PAF officers.
According to the agreement, exchange of faculty, conducting joint research activities, publication of research, educational materials along with the exchange of knowledge and sharing of training facilities are included in the agreement.
The documents of the agreement were signed by Raja Umar Younis, Registrar AIOU and Air Commodore Maqsood Akhtar of PAF.
Speaking on the occasion, Maqsood Akhtar said that there is a need for theory along with practical in criminology and policing, and AIOU will fulfill the need.
He said that Allama Iqbal Open University is producing competent professionals in every field and these services of the university are commendable for fulfilling the needs of society.
He said that we have students in every institution of the country, now the officers of Pakistan Air Force will also be our students as well. Chairman, Department of Sociology, Dr. Syed Imran Haider highlighted the importance and need of this study.
Meanwhile, a walk was also organized in the university in memory of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
The walk was led by Director Student Affairs, Rana Tariq Javed, Director General Regional Services, Dr. Malik Tauqeer Ahmed Khan, Controller Examinations, Mian Muhammad Riaz and Director Public Relations, Dr. Bakht Rawan.
Speaking at the end of the walk, Dr. Bakht Rawan said that Allama Iqbal is not only a poet of the East but also a benefactor of Pakistan.
The dream of a free homeland for Muslims is his great kindness to the Pakistani nation, which we will always remember. Dr. Malik Tauqeer Ahmed Khan said that we are grateful to Iqbal for dreaming of a separate country.
Thinking of a separate homeland for Muslims while living in united India, is a great favor to us Pakistanis which we can never forget and will always pay tribute to him on his birthday.
