Lahore: Provincial Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique on Monday said that all schools of thought were united for the security of Pakistan. as he met a delegation of the Shia Ulema Council to discuss the overall law and order situation in Punjab.
The meeting was held at the Punjab Home Department on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif as part of ongoing consultations with religious scholars belonging to all schools of thought to promote peace and harmony in the province.

The Shia Ulema Council delegation comprised Provincial Focal Person Qasim Ali Qasmi. President North Punjab Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Kazmi. President Central Punjab Syed Sajid Hussain Naqvi. General Secretary Central Punjab Syed Safi-ul-Hasan Shirazi. Syed Nayyar Abbas from South Punjab and other representatives.
Speaking on the occasion. Khawaja Salman Rafique said consultations with respected religious scholars from all schools of thought were continuing under the leadership of the chief minister.
He said religious scholars played a fundamental role in maintaining peace in Punjab. adding that the meeting with the provincial leadership of the Shia Ulema Council was highly positive and another meeting had also been agreed upon.
The provincial minister said all religious scholars in Punjab were united for maintaining law and order and urged all segments of society to rise above differences and join hands for the security and stability of Pakistan.
“All schools of thought are on the same page for the security of Pakistan. ” he said.
The Home secretary said the Punjab government was in complete coordination with all stakeholders for maintaining peace in the province. He said Ulema were an important and integral part of the peace process in Punjab. adding that religious scholars from all schools of thought had extended full cooperation during Muharram. Chehlum and Urs events.
Members of the Shia Ulema Council appreciated the Punjab government’s measures for maintaining law and order and assured their full cooperation for the security and stability of the country.
They said all schools of thought would work together to ensure compliance with the law and promote inter-sect harmony.
The meeting concluded with prayers for the security. prosperity and well-being of the country and nation.
