FAISALABAD:Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Nayyar Sheikh inaugurated a week-long anti polio drive by administrating vaccine at Hilal-e-Ahmar Maternity Hospital here on Saturday.

He said that 1.53677 million children up to the age of five years would be vaccinated against polio during the campaign which would be held from October 2 (Monday) to October 8 (Sunday).

He said that 4849 polio teams were deputed for the drive and these teams would pay door-to-door visits in addition to ensuring vaccination of the children who were travelling with their parents.

He directed district health authorities to implement a micro-plan for achieving a 100 percent target of the anti polio drive. All modes of advertisement should be adopted to sensitise people and no negligence would be tolerated in this regard, he added.
