APHC calls for end to repression in IIOJK

ISLAMABAD:Former All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Information Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Butt has called for an end to alleged repression in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), urging the international community to ensure accountability for reported human rights violations in the region.

In a statement issued here, Butt said the prolonged militarisation of the occupied territory since October 27, 1947, had created an atmosphere of fear and repression among the Kashmiri people.

He claimed that approximately one million Indian troops were deployed across IIOJK, raising serious concerns about the human rights situation and the daily lives of residents.

Calling for independent investigations into allegations of torture, repression and other human rights abuses, Butt stressed that those responsible for violations should be held accountable.

He urged the international community to break its silence and take practical steps to protect the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people, emphasising the need for international attention to their longstanding grievances.

Butt maintained that the use of military force could not suppress the aspirations of Kashmiris and reiterated their right to self-determination. He called for an end to repression and urged that the people of Kashmir be allowed to decide their own future in accordance with their aspirations.
