Lahore: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ project is among the five major projects in the world and the largest housing project in Pakistan, developed by the Punjab government through its own resources.
In a statement on Thursday, she said that in the history of Pakistan, no other government had received an award of such magnitude as the one being conferred on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
She said 202,913 houses had been built under the project, with 118,088 houses completed and another 53,233 currently under construction.
Azma Bokhari said providing deserving and homeless people with their own homes was the dream of Maryam Nawaz. She said that, in just two years, the chief minister had succeeded in providing homes to more than 200,000 people, while a target had been set to provide ‘Apni Chhat’ to 500,000 people within five years.
She said that after the ‘Suthra Punjab’ project, ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ was another global recognition of the Punjab government’s governance initiatives. She added that successful projects were bringing recognition to Punjab and Pakistan at the international level, while the government’s two-year performance reflected its achievements.
