Islamabad: Minister of State for Law and Justice, Barrister Aqeel Malik on Monday welcomed the orders of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, terming them a victory for Pakistan, he said the developments validated Pakistan’s principled position.
Speaking to a private television channel, he said the decision of the international arbitration court had vindicated Pakistan’s narrative on the Indus Waters Treaty. He maintained that India’s unilateral decisions regarding the treaty constituted a violation of international law.
Commenting on the creation of new provinces, he said establishing new administrative units or provinces could help improve governance and public service delivery.
Responding to a question, he said the debate on the creation of new provinces should be held at the appropriate constitutional and political forums.
