Asif Rafiq calls for improved sanitation in Peshawar

District

PESHAWAR:Adviser on Local Government, Communications and Works Asif Rafiq on Sunday directed the Water and Sanitation Services Company Peshawar (WSSP) to further improve cleanliness across the provincial capital and set an example for other districts.

During a briefing, WSSP Chief Executive Officer Quratul Ain Wazir informed the adviser about the city’s sanitation situation and ongoing measures to improve cleanliness.

She said the company had taken several steps to improve sanitation within a short period and was working on an emergency basis to keep the city clean.

She added that the company was implementing uniform sanitation measures across different areas of Peshawar.

Asif Rafiq directed the relevant officials to utilise all available resources and accelerate practical measures to improve the sanitation system.

He said Peshawar, as the provincial capital, should serve as a model for other districts, adding that improvements in its cleanliness standards could encourage similar efforts across the province.

The adviser assured the WSSP of support in securing the resources needed to improve sanitation and resolve the company’s operational challenges. He said providing citizens with a clean environment remained a government priority.
