LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday granted interim bail till May 11 to former chief minister Punjab and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in a case registered under terrorism, attacking police, rioting and other charges.
The court ordered Parvez Elahi to furnish surety bonds of Rs 50,000 for availing the relief.
ATC Judge Ijaz Ahmad Buttar passed the orders while hearing a pre-arrest interim bail petition filed by the former chief minister.
During the proceedings, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi along with his counsel appeared before the court.
Parvez Elahi’s counsel argued before the court that Ghalib Market police had registered a case against his client and others on charges of terrorism, attacking police, rioting and others. He submitted that his client wanted to join the investigations but feared arrest. He pleaded with the court to grant bail to his client.
