More than 50 private parking stands sealed for overcharging


Lahore: The district administration has launched a large-scale crackdown against those who charge excessive fees from citizens in the name of private parking in the city. Acting on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Ali Ijaz, more than 50 private parking stands were sealed for charging more than the official rates.



The operations were carried out under the leadership of MOR Jawadul Hassan in Gulberg, Shalimar, Data Ganj Bakhsh and Samanabad zones on the instructions of COMCL Kaleem Yousuf. According to the district administration, the parking fee for motorcycles was Rs 50 and for cars Rs 100 at several parking stands, while the official parking fee for motorcycles is Rs 10 and for cars Rs 30.

Security Forces kill five terrorists: ISPR


Rawalpindi: Security Forces conducted an intelligence based operation in general area Razmak, North Waziristan District, on reported presence of Khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy, Fitna Al Khwarij.



During the conduct of operation, due to effective engagement by own troops, five Indian sponsored khwarij were sent to hell.



However, during the intense fire exchange, Major Hafiz Ihsan Elahi (age: 34 years, resident of District Mianwali), a brave officer who was leading his troops from the front, having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat.



Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies as well as killing of innocent civilians.



Sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored kharji found in the area, as the relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’ (as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further reinforce our unwavering commitment of safeguarding our nation at all costs.

ADC reviews arrangements to finalize all preparations for Chehlum


Sukkur: Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Shikarpur, Muhammad Faizan Zafar Cheema chaired a meeting to review and finalize administrative, security, sanitation and traffic arrangements for the observance of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala.



The meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Shikarpur which was attended by Assistant Commissioner Shikarpur Arfa Batool Rai, police officials, representatives of the Information Department, Local Government, SEPCO, Health Department, Public Health Engineering Department and other relevant government departments. Religious scholars representing different schools of thought also participated, said a press release.



Addressing the meeting, the ADC said that the Code of Conduct would be strictly enforced during the Chehlum to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of processions and religious gatherings.



He directed the concerned departments to make comprehensive arrangements for cleanliness and sanitation, particularly along the routes of Chehlum processions and around venues where religious gatherings and Majalis would be held.



Cheema further instructed the relevant authorities to ensure complete security for all processions and Majalis with the deployment of police and Rangers personnel. He emphasized that effective coordination among all concerned departments was essential to maintain law and order situation and prevent any untoward incident during the observances.



He also directed officials to develop an efficient traffic management plan to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and minimize inconvenience to the public.



The concerned departments were instructed to repair drainage crossings and address other civic issues along procession routes, near Imambargahs and at locations where Majalis would be organized.



The meeting also stressed the need for strict implementation of the Loudspeaker Act and other relevant regulations during the Chehlum.



The chair emphasized that all concerned departments should remain fully coordinated and carry out their assigned responsibilities effectively to ensure that the Chehlum processions are held peacefully, securely and in an organized manner.

Lahore to be made beggars free city


Lahore: In the first phase, the city has been given the task of cleaning up beggars. A meeting was held in Punjab Interior Department under the chairmanship of Secretary Home Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi, in which it was decided to implement an effective and integrated strategy against beggars.



Secretary Social Welfare Saira Umar, Special Secretary Interior Zainab Khan, DG Social Welfare Dr. Sheshanshah Faisal, DG Probation and Parole Shahid Iqbal, Additional Secretary Prison Roman Burana, Additional Secretary Judicial Abdul Rauf and other officers participated in the meeting.



In the meeting, it was decided that strict action will be taken against beggar mafia in public places while Safe City Authority and Traffic Police have also been entrusted with the responsibility to expose the network of beggar mafia.

ERC holds ninth review of monsoon preparedness


Islamabad: The federal government’s Emergency Response Committee (ERC) on Saturday held its ninth daily review meeting at the National Emergencies Operations Centre (NEOC) in Islamabad to assess the country’s preparedness, rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts, with Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal directing all agencies to maintain a high state of readiness and speed up assistance to affected communities.



The meeting, chaired via video link by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof Ahsan Iqbal on the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was attended by Federal Minister for Climate Change Dr Musadik Masood Malik, Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain, Punjab Health and Emergency Services Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, chief secretaries, NDMA chairman, senior federal and provincial officials, and disaster management authorities.



The NDMA briefed the committee on the latest monsoon situation, including casualties, damage to infrastructure, ongoing rescue and relief operations, and rehabilitation efforts in affected areas.



The committee was also informed about the flood situation triggered by Friday’s heavy rains in different parts of the country and the response by federal, provincial and district authorities to protect vulnerable communities and ensure timely emergency assistance.



Officials presented the latest hydrological outlook, warning that further rainfall is expected in northern and central Pakistan, while isolated to scattered showers are also likely in southeastern Sindh, raising the risk of additional flooding.



The NDMA also updated participants on humanitarian assistance being coordinated with national and international partners to support relief operations in flood hit areas.



The committee reviewed the response of federal ministries, provincial governments and district administrations, appreciated rescue and restoration efforts, and stressed the need for continued coordination among all stakeholders to deal with any emerging emergency.



Concluding the meeting, Prof Ahsan Iqbal directed all concerned departments to sustain operational momentum, strengthen coordination, maintain proactive preparedness, and accelerate relief and rehabilitation work wherever needed.

CDA eases parking requirement for high-rise commercial buildings in Islamabad


Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has reduced the mandatory parking requirement for high-rise commercial buildings, allowing one parking space for every 1, 000 square feet of covered area instead of the previous standard of one space per 750 square feet.



The decision was approved at the 10th CDA Board meeting of 2026, chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Sohail Ashraf at the CDA headquarters on Saturday.



According to the authority, the revised regulation brings Islamabad’s parking standards in line with those followed by regulatory bodies in other cities and is aimed at facilitating commercial construction and investment.



The board was informed that the previous requirement had posed challenges for builders and developers, who in some cases were required to excavate up to six basement levels to meet parking requirements, creating structural and safety concerns.



The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with the business community, builders and developers, had repeatedly sought a revision of the rule.



The new parking standard takes immediate effect and will also apply to commercial plots to be offered in the CDA’s open auction scheduled for Aug 4-6, as well as future commercial plot auctions.



The authority said the auction terms and conditions would be amended accordingly. The CDA said the revised policy would simplify the approval of commercial building plans and help boost construction activity in the federal capital.



Chairman Sohail Ashraf said the authority would continue introducing facilitative measures to promote planned urban development, investment and construction in Islamabad.
