Muzaffargarh:A farmer on Thursday electrocuted in Chak No 134 ML.
The rescue sources said that the farmer had been identified as Muhammad Arif.
The farmer was busy in grinding fodder on electric machine, they added.
Four killed, 11 injured as school van hit by Dumper
Sargodha:Four people including two minor girls, female schoolteacher and school van driver died as a speeding dumper hit a school van here at Chak No. 133-SB ,46 Adda Road, situation in the jurisdiction of Sillanwali police station on Thursday.
Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer Mazhar Shah informed that a school van after school off time was returning to his town from Sillanwali. When it reached near Chak No. 133-SB, it collided with a speeding dumper. A a resultant, two minor girls including Fateh Noor (8), daughter of Imran of 132-SB, one minor girl of five years and female teacher of 28 and school van driver of above 30 died on-the-spot while 11 children including girls and boys sustained critical injuries.
Rescue 1122 teams and Police concerned reached the spot and shifted the bodies and injured to Tehsil Headquarters hospital Sillanwali for necessary legal formalities.
Police also took the dumper into custody while driver of the Dumper managed to escape from the site.
Governor Sindh meets Kyrgyz Minister of Education and Science
Karachi:Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori met Kyrgystan's Minister of Education and Science, Ms. Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, at the Governor House here.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations, promoting higher education in contemporary times and the development of IT courses, among other key topics, said a statement on Thursday.
Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori highlighted the efforts being made to enhance higher education across the province.
He shared that the Governor House is hosting free IT courses for youth, covering advanced topics like Artificial Intelligence, Metaverse, and Web 3.0.
He also announced plans to expand these courses to major cities, including Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, Sukkur, and Larkana.
Ms. Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva commended the IT initiatives, stating that such efforts would secure a bright future for the youth. She also appreciated other Governor initiatives, including "Bell of Hope" and the ration drive, describing them as exemplary measures for community welfare.
Skills training of drug addicts starts
Peshawar: The provincial government has started training programs to impart different skills to drug addicts after completion of their rehabilitation process.
The trainers of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority have been deputed in various rehabilitation centers to train drug addicts in different skills. The services of skilled drug addicts that have completed rehabilitation process would also be utilized for the purpose.
Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Mehsud said that after four months of rehabilitation and training, these drug addicts would be able to earn livelihood in a respectful way.
He said that visits would be conducted to monitor training process of addicts in rehabilitation centers.
Rupee sheds 4 paisa against dollar
Islamabad: Pakistani rupee on Wednesday depreciated by 04 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs278.76 against the previous day's closing of Rs278.72.
However, according to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs 279.20 and Rs 280.70 respectively.
The price of the Euro increased by Rs 1.54 to close at Rs287.24 against the last day's closing of Rs285.70, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The Japanese yen remained unchanged and closed at Rs1.77, whereas an increase of 89 paisa was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British Pound, which was traded at Rs341.08 as compared to the last day's closing of Rs340.19.
The exchange rates of the Emirates Dirham and the Saudi Riyal increased by 01 paisa each to close at Rs75.89 and Rs74.26, respectively.
Rubina Khalid emphasises to provide technical, vocational training to deserving people
Karachi: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Senator Rubina Khalid on Wednesday visited the ZABTech office here in Azam Town area of the city where Executive Director of the institute Waheeda Mahesar accorded warm welcome.
Senator Rubina Khalid emphasized on providing technical and vocational training to deserving women and their children.
She said that Government wants to economically empower people belonging to poor and backward section of the society through skill training so that not only there would be a significant development in the country's industry and trade but also skilled youth could get employment opportunities at home and abroad.
Senator Rubina Khalid, while interacting with the students undergoing different training course such as Beautician, Fashion designing, Culinary Art, Kitchen Making, Industrial Stitching, Welding and Electrician, wished that they would start their own business by learning various technical and artistic skills and improve the economic conditions of their families.
She stated that Shaheed Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto had said that skill was a capital which no one can take away.
She stressed the importance of bringing innovation in the sectors related to the fashion industry and producing products according to the market requirements. She also proposed to adopt innovation by inviting various dress designers of the country to improve the boutique industry.
Executive Director ZABTech Waheeda Mahesar briefed the Chairperson BISP about the various programs being conducted in the institution and said that Azam Town Center was providing training in 14 different technical and vocational skills to the underprivileged and poor children.
Senator Rubina Khalid said that career counseling sessions should also be started for those who are learning skills in different fields at the ZABTech center so that individuals receiving training from the center could get employment in the market according to their skills.
