BAHAWALPUR:In the emerging global economy, e-commerce and e-business have increasingly become a necessary component of business strategy and a strong catalyst for economic development.
Department of Economics the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, in alignment with the vision of the Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and Dean-Social Science Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti was always on the quest to bring emerging topics over the discussion table and equip students with the latest trends and techniques.
In collaboration with E-commerce Success Pakistan, the department arranged an awareness session on “Scope of E-commerce an art of Entrepreneurship.” The session was led by Usama Jamshed (City lead ESP) and Muhammad Shahid (ESP BWP chapter coordinator).
The session’s main objective was to introduce students to the hidden potential in e-Commerce and how they can use this tool to solve societal issues like unemployment, poverty, and inflation and play their part in the country’s economic development. They explained how different online platforms like Daraz, Amazon, and Etsy could be effectively utilized to generate income.
Various success stories were also shared to motivate students to be living examples. The discussion was interesting enough to grab students’ attraction and open new horizons for them. The session ended with a question-and-answer session and concluding remarks from Dr. Abid Rasheed Gill HoD, Economics. He encouraged the students to invest their time in learning the most updated and relevant skills. He also ensures to repeat this activity regularly.
