Sialkot: Awareness sessions on the protection of women and children are being conducted at schools and colleges across the district under the supervision of DPO Sialkot Captain (Retd.) Dost Muhammad, as part of a campaign launched on the directions of Regional Police Officer Gujranwala Region Khurram Shehzad Haider Waraich.
According to a police spokesman, the campaign started on Sept 14 and will continue until Sept 19.
During the sessions, police officers were sensitizing students, teachers and staff about the rights of women and children and measures to prevent violence, harassment and sexual abuse.
Children were also being educated in simple terms about the difference between ‘good touch’ and ‘bad touch’ and encouraged to immediately report any unsafe situation to their parents, teachers or police.
Participants were being briefed about the Women Safety App, Security Panic Button and Police Helpline 15. They are also being introduced to the Virtual Women Police Station, Virtual Center for Child Safety, Tahaffuz Markaz, Victim Support Officers and the ‘Mera Pyara’ app.
Parents and teachers were being urged to listen attentively to children and provide them with a safe and supportive environment where they can openly discuss any concerns or problems without fear.
DPO Sialkot Captain (Retd.) Dost Muhammad said protection of women and children was a shared responsibility and a top priority of the police.
He said all possible protection and legal assistance would be provided to victims, while action would be taken without discrimination against those involved in criminal activities.
