Azma questions Fawad’s deleted tweet over CM’s payment

Lahore

Lahore: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari, reacting to the controversy surrounding the payment of funds by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, said on Thursday that she had heard former federal minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry had deleted his tweet after falling victim to propaganda.

She said that, in a way, it was a good thing that the tweet had been deleted, but if even a person of this stature could believe propaganda and spread false information, people could imagine the situation faced by an ordinary citizen.

Azma Bokhari also questioned what had become of the ‘esteemed journalists’ who, according to her, had tweeted in support of the propaganda cell.

The minister’s remarks came amid a controversy over the payment made by the chief minister for expenses incurred during her recent private visit to London. Reports said Rs27.194 million had been deposited into the Punjab government’s treasury account, while questions were raised on social media over the dates appearing on the payment documents.
