QUETTA:Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, in his message on World Development Information Day, said that timely and reliable public access to development-related information is fundamental to transparent governance, public trust, and sustainable development.
He said the launch of Balochistan’s first Digital Media Policy marks a significant step towards aligning with modern communication requirements and ensuring the effective dissemination of information. The chief minister emphasized that accurate information regarding development affairs is the right of the people and the responsibility of the government.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti added that citizens should be kept informed about development projects, public welfare initiatives, and available services. He noted that an informed public can not only benefit more effectively from development programmes but can also play an active role in monitoring government initiatives and promoting accountability.
The chief minister said the effective use of digital technology can help enhance public awareness, improve access to information, and ensure greater transparency in government actions. He added that Balochistan’s first Digital Media Policy highlights the importance of making information delivery more effective through modern communication channels while strengthening engagement between the government and the public.
He further observed that providing development-related information to people living across Balochistan’s vast territory and remote areas is of particular importance. Access to authentic information regarding health, education, employment opportunities, and basic services can help citizens take advantage of available opportunities and increase their participation in the development process.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti stressed that the benefits of development cannot effectively reach the people without promoting transparency, accountability, and public awareness. He said the responsible use of modern digital platforms and the timely provision of information are essential for improved governance and sustainable development.
The chief minister reaffirmed that the Balochistan government attaches great importance to ensuring that accurate information reaches the public and that the development process remains more transparent, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of the people.
