Peshawar: Provincial Minister for Health, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khaliq ur Rehman on Thursday formally inaugurated Nutrition Stabilization Center established at Bacha Khan Medical (BKM) Complex Swabi.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme, Senator Rubina Khalid; Director General BISP, Aasim Ijaz; and WHO Representative in Pakistan, Dr. Leo Dapeng, hospital administration, medical experts and relevant officials.
The center has been set up through the joint efforts of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Benazir Nashonuma Program and World Health Organization (WHO).
Talking to the media, the minister stated that the provincial government has declared the health sector as its top priority and is taking practical steps to ensure the provision of quality healthcare services to the public. He added that the establishment of the Nutrition Stabilization Center for the treatment and care of malnourished children is a significant milestone adding that it would play a key role in safeguarding the health of newborns.
He expressed his special gratitude to the Benazir Income Support Program, Benazir Nashonuma Program and the World Health Organization for their cooperation in establishing the center. He also expressed hope that with the continued support of international organizations, health sector would be further strengthened in the future.
On the occasion, WHO Representative Dr. Leo Dapeng assured continued cooperation to KP government in health sector.
