LAHORE: A delegation of the Blind Professionals Association of Punjab called on Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan and apprised him of the problems faced by them during a meeting at the Governor’s House here on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that special people are an important part of the society.
He said brave people like them are a source of pride for others. He said that it was the duty of both the government and the society to create facilities for the differently abled persons. He lauded the services of the Blind Professional Association of Punjab for visually impaired persons and added that it was playing a vital role in solving problems of blind people. The delegation presented demands to the governor to increase the conveyance allowance of government visually impaired government employees, to allocate quota in ‘Apna Ghar Apni Chat’ Scheme and to set the retirement age at 65 years for blind government employees.

The delegation comprised Safia Ishaq Chairperson Blind Welfare Association, Patron in Chief Blind Professional Association, Professor Iftikhar Ahmed Bukhari, President Blind Professional Association Muhammad Muzaffar, Special Education Department teachers Jaber Hussain, Ahmed Karim, Muhammad Mudassar and others.
